Domestic homeowners, tenants and landlords wishing to upgrade the energy efficiency of their property under Green Deal will require an energy assessment of the property by an approved domestic Green
Deal Advisor (GDA).
Only qualified, certified Green Deal Advisors (also known as ‘Assessors’ or ‘GDAs’) will be able to undertake this work and provide residential customers with access to Green Deal funding for the installation of energy efficiency measures.
The requirements for Domestic GDAs have been finalised and Green Deal Assessor training is now available. Please note that there is a separate qualification for Non-domestic / commercial Green Deal Advisors
Why Attend
Anyone looking to provide Green Deal Assessments for domestic properties under the Green Deal will need to hold the Diploma in Domestic Green Deal Advice. This qualification is ideal for anyone already involved in the property industry or for new entrants with an interest in property and/or energy efficiency.
Tradespeople and installer organisations of all sizes are also in a great position to benefit from the Green Deal and in many cases will be the first point of contact for domestic customers. For PAS 2030 certified contractors (or those going through the process) who plan to offer installation services as Green Deal Installers, also becoming certified as a GDA means the company will be able to maintain control over the whole customer journey and maximise the full earning potential.
What experience do you need?
No experience in surveying or energy consultancy is necessary to enrol onto Domestic Green Deal Advisor training; however existing Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) will follow a shorter route than new entrants to the industry, because the Green Deal Assessor Training incorporates the existing DEA qualification, which makes up approximately 50% of the qualification units.
Discounted assessor training rates
GDC have developed an intensive, 2 to 5 day training course (dependent on whether you are a new entrant or an existing DEA) which is led and monitored by a team of highly experienced energy experts.
During this two / five day course, candidates can expect to learn all of the key elements of the Green Deal Advisor role, including Golden Rule calculations, occupancy assessments, issuing Green Deal Reports, giving bespoke advice and more.
Successful candidates will gain the nationally recognised QCF (VRQ) Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Green Deal Advice, certified by EDI (Education Development International) or ABBE (Awarding Body of the Built Environment).
