As part of the qualification you will build a portfolio of the work you have completed; this will include photographic evidence together with useful tips on painting and decorating that will help you on your way to a successful career.
You will receive an accredited qualification in plastering and cover the following.
- An introduction to the tools required for the job
- An introduction to powder fillers & ready-made fillers
- Repairing damaged walls using a variety of methods
- Wall, Ceiling and woodwork preparation prior to painting
- Learning what paints to use for different surfaces
- The correct use of primers, undercoats and glosses including water and oil based paints
- Using rollers to paint walls and ceilings with emulsion paints
- How to cut in at walls and ceilings with different colours
- Introduction to the painting of woodwork with oil based paints
- The preparation of walls ready for lining and wallpaper hanging
- Hanging of lining paper
- How to set out, match pattern and hang wallpaper
- Correct procedure for painting of 6 panel colonial doors in undercoat and gloss paints
- Using contrasting colours to demonstrate correct masking techniques on panelled doors.
- Correct procedure for finishing of glazed window frames
