CITY & GUILDS LEVEL 1- BRICKLAYING (10 DAYS)
This course covers all aspects of bricklaying and techniques that are needed to start a career as a professional bricklayer. This high level training is given by our qualified instructors in our purpose built technical centers.
No previous experience is required to take part on this course but the completion of our introductory course to bricklaying will be helpful.
You will receive a City & Guilds Level 1 qualification and cover the following units:
- short talk on Health and Safety in relation to this course
- Introduction to mixes and their ratios, including the use of water proofers and plasticisers
- Explanation of footings and their purpose
- Short demonstration of Bricklaying and correct use of tools
- Mixing of mortar for tasks in hand
- Laying of Blocks and Bricks onto mortar bed and perps
- Use of lines, gauges and levels on single and cavity walls
- Using DPC’s, cavity closers, concrete and steel lintels, wall ties and cavity insulation
- Install ventilation bricks
- Forming stopped ends
- Building of quoins
- Application of various bonds
- All work to be carried out to drawing specifications and tolerances
