Non-domestic building owners, tenants and commercial landlords wishing to upgrade the energy efficiency of their property stock under Green Deal will require an energy assessment of the premises by an approved Non-domestic Green Deal Advisor (NDGDA).
Only qualified, Non-domestic Green Deal Advisors (also known as ‘Assessors’ or ‘GDAs’) will be able to undertake this work and provide commercial building occupants with access to Green Deal finance for the installation of energy efficiency measures.
The requirements for Non-domestic GDAs have been finalised and Green Deal Assessor training is now available. Please note that there is a separate qualification for Residential / Domestic Green Deal Advisors.
Who is the qualification for
Anyone looking to provide Green Deal Assessments for commercial properties under the Green Deal will need to personally be qualified and hold a Diploma in Non-Domestic Green Deal Advice. This level 4 qualification is ideal for anyone already involved in the commercial property industry or for new entrants with a property and/or energy efficiency background. As this role involves data entry into an online system, basic IT skills and internet access are essential.
Trades people and installer organisations currently involved in commercial installation work are also in a great position to benefit from the Green Deal and in many cases will be the first point of contact for non-domestic clients.
For PAS 2030 certified installers (or those going through the process) who plan to install measures on commercial properties under the Green Deal, becoming certified as a GDA means that your company will be able to maintain control over the whole client journey and maximise the full earning potential
What experience or qualification do you need
No experience is necessary to enrol onto the Non-Domestic Green Deal Advisor training course; however if a new entrant, those who have been involved in surveying, construction or energy consultancy should find the qualification easily than someone from a non-relevant industry sector.
Existing Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs) will follow a shorter route than new entrants to the industry, because the Green Deal Assessor Training incorporates the existing NDEA qualification, which makes up approximately 50% of the total qualification units for the GDA Diploma
Discounted training
Green Deal Central have developed an intensive, 2 to 5 day training course (dependent on whether you are a new entrant or a NDEA) which is delivered by a team of highly-experienced energy experts.
During this two / five day course, candidates can expect to learn all of the key elements of the Green Deal Advisor role, including Golden Rule calculations, occupancy assessments, issuing Green Deal Reports, giving bespoke advice and more.
Successful candidates will gain the nationally recognised QCF (VRQ) Level 4 Diploma in Non-Domestic Green Deal Advice, certified by EDI (Education Development International) or ABBE (Awarding Body of the Built Environment).
